If were still living in West Hollywood, I would want to eat here at least once every week. What’s special about Taco Love is that there are no other places like this in Los Angeles. A taco place that isn’t trying to be super authentic and or super American. This place serves delicious tacos, burritos and all else. A bit of a San Diego vibe with the fries in the burritos, but it’s special, very special.

My favorite is the grilled green onions. Not a lot of places serve this. It’s an authentic Mexican side thingy that the real Mexicans do when their big Mexican families get together for a bbq. How do I know? I know a lot of Mexicans and I’ve been to a handful of bbqs hosted by Mexicans. I grew up in Downey, hello!?

What they do is, they lather oil, salt, pepper and lime juice on the green onions (as a whole) and stick it on the grill. Give it some time and it’ll be the best thing you’ve put in your mouth.

Now get your ass to West Hollywood and try their asada burrito and don’t forget to get a side of the grilled green onions!

Bowled and Beautiful #foodtruck

This food truck came near the office and I wish I didn’t waste $15.00 on it. I barely ate it because…

1. It tasted like shit
2. It was hard to eat, everything was falling over because the bowl was too small for everything in it
3. It wasn’t as spicy as advertised
4. It tasted like shit

Not to be so mean about it but I don’t really have expectations from food trucks but all the Americans white people loved it at my office. I should have known better. Maybe my tastebuds aren’t as refined or is more refined, who gives a fuck. To each his/her own.

Again, I was invited to Andy’s new food venture. Pig Pen Delicacy in Santa Ana at the 4th Street Market. A pink exterior stands out in an area filled with other food vendors. All pork and all so tasty.

We waited with all of Andy’s other guests (friends and family invite “soft opening”) while our mouths salivated. Bear was super hungry because he had just came from the gym (he does not do JIM), and me… well, I’m always hungry.

By the time we arrive, the two items we really wanted were sold out but it was great because I got to try something I wouldn’t have normally picked.

We got 2 Breakfast Sandwiches (1 to eat, 1 to take home), 1 Bacon Maple Jam Burger and an order of fries. I really wanted to try to pork belly fries and the other pork sammy. I’m not much of a sweet and savory connoisseur so I didn’t know what to expect.

Why did I even question the taste? I felt stupid after I took a bite into the Maple Bacon Jam Burger. That thing was incredible. That white sauce/aioli or whatever it was balanced the whole thing. Lots of grilled onions, the bun was fluffy as fuck and the patty… oh man the patty, juicy, flavorful and so tender. I can’t remember much after that because I went into ecstasy. The Breakfast Sammy was not that different from their burger. Again, fluffy bun, thick bacon melted cheese and man the eggs… reminded me of Bear’s mom’s eggs in Kansas. I’ve mentioned before how much I love her eggs. Last but not least, the fries. Fries are always great, these fries reminded me of Rally’s fries. If you know Rally’s, I know you’re probably grabbing your keys to head over to Pig Pen Delicacy NOW.

They open officially Saturday, 3/5/16.

Side note: I thought the boy’s shirts behind the counter said ‘Pig Men’ on the front, but I just wished it did. It actually said ‘Pig Pen’. LOL

Every Thursday, they have a thing called the Island Fish Fry. Luckily it was right next door to our hotel so we didn’t have to catch a cab to the location. We just walked over along the beach and grabbed some drinks and food.

Conch is everywhere in Turks and Caicos and it’s really yummy… I just imagined myself eating other kinds of seafood while I was here.

All the flavors were perfect, not too overly seasoned and sauces always came on the side. The best part of everything was that it was all very fresh!

The thing I loved about this place wasn’t the food necessarily, it was the ambiance, people and entertainment. Oh and the fact that a guy goes out to the ocean to dive for conch as you order!

Now that’s what I call service! 😛

We ordered the combo of fritters and the cracked conch with fries and peas and rice. We also got the conch salad. I liked the cracked conch the best! I wish the conch salad had more jalapeno peppers. 🙂 I must say, it was the freshest of all the conch salads I had on the island.
